Felipe Muñoz Tirado (Coquimbo, 1996) es artista visual, editor e investigador en cultura visual contemporánea latinoamericana. Licenciado en Comunicación Social (Universidad de La Serena) y Magíster en Teoría e Historia del Arte (Universidad de Chile), actualmente es estudiante de doctorado en Literatura y estudios culturales hispánicos en la Universidad de Pensilvania, donde es fellow del programa Benjamin Franklin.
Su trabajo se sitúa en la intersección entre teoría crítica de la imagen, estudios visuales y prácticas editoriales, con atención particular a las tensiones entre materialidad, memoria y política en la fotografía y literatura contemporánea latinoamericana. Interesado por las problemáticas socio-políticas del territorio, utiliza la fotografía como medio ensayístico y la palabra como instrumento para pensar desde la visualidad las transformaciones contemporáneas.
Ha desarrollado una trayectoria como periodista cultural, curador y editor, canalizando este trabajo a través de Letargo Editorial, plataforma independiente que fundó dedicada a la fotografía latinoamericana contemporánea. Su práctica curatorial se ha extendido a Europa, con exposiciones en Madrid y Barcelona. Ha sido docente universitario en Chile y ha sido ganador de diversos fondos del Ministerio de las Culturas, Artes y Patrimonio.
Su trabajo ha sido reconocido con el Premio Nacional Rodrigo Rojas de Negri al talento joven en fotografía (2025), el Premio Artes de la Visualidad Coquimbo (2025) y el Shannon Michael Cane Award presentado por Printed Matter en Nueva York (2025).

Felipe Muñoz Tirado (Coquimbo, 1996) is a visual artist, editor, and scholar of contemporary Latin American visual culture. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Social Communication from the Universidad de La Serena and a Master's Degree in Art Theory and History from the Universidad de Chile. He is currently a doctoral student in Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Pennsylvania, where he is a Benjamin Franklin Fellow.
His work sits at the intersection of critical image theory, visual studies, and editorial practices, with particular attention to the tensions between materiality, memory, and politics in contemporary Latin American photography and literature. Engaged with the socio-political complexities of the Latin American territory, he uses photography as an essayistic medium and writing as a tool to think through visual culture the transformations of contemporary context.
He has developed a career as a cultural journalist, curator, and editor, channeling this work through Letargo Editorial, an independent platform he founded dedicated to contemporary Latin American photography. His curatorial practice has extended to Europe, with exhibitions in Madrid and Barcelona. He has taught at the university level in Chile and has received competitive funding from the Chilean Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage.
His work has been recognized with the Rodrigo Rojas de Negri National Prize for young talent in photography (2025), the Coquimbo Visual Arts Prize (2025), and the Shannon Michael Cane Award presented by Printed Matter in New York (2025).
